I don't think anything too exciting happened last Friday. We did go to Rad and Jen's house for supper and Jen made some great soup, so that was a nice treat. I had stayed home in the morning on Friday and Uncle Rad came and babysat Caleb from 11:00-1:00 and then Dede and her girls watched Caleb in the afternoon, and they had a great time as always.
On Sabbath, we didn't do too much. We went to church and then there was a funeral at our church in the afternoon, so Steve had to stay and help in the sound room, so I took Caleb home for his nap.

So, Sunday was Caleb's birthday party even though his birthday was actually Monday. Obviously Sunday is a better time to do a party. We decided to just have a family party with my parents, Rad & Jen, David & Yully, and my grandparents who just arrived from Tennessee. Dede and her girls were disappointed that we weren't having a church party, so since they are Caleb's babysitters, I invited them to the family party and they were very happy to be included. I knew it would be a busy day getting ready for the party, so I only worked a few hours in the morning and then spent the afternoon getting ready for the party. Caleb and I did some last minute grocery shopping and then while Caleb was napping, Steve and I decorated for the party. We had to rearrange our table so everyone could fit around it and we put up balloons and Mickey decorations. I was very happy with how it turned out. We had the party at 4:30 and we started with haystacks, a typical group meal. Then we opened Caleb's presents and he got a lot of nice things from everybody, and then we had cake and ice cream. Yully made a beautiful cake for Caleb, which all of the rest of us ate and then I had gotten a free cake from Shaws that we let Caleb dig into and do whatever he wanted with it. He loved it and had a great time! We got lots of great pictures, so I will just let the pictures tell the rest of the story.

Priceless face - I guess he liked his elf outfit!

Thoroughly enjoying himself! And it might be early, but he is showing left-handed tendencies!!
Caleb did great throughout the whole party and did not have any meltdowns or anything like that! We were able to stay pretty much on his schedule and I think he only went to bed 20 or 30 minutes later than normal. I wasn't sure how he would sleep that night between the cake and his top teeth coming in. But, he did fine and wasn't awake at all in the night, but was up at 5:15 the next morning, which is earlier than normal. But, oh well.
Monday was Caleb's actual birthday, but we didn't really do anything special for it since we had already had his party. We spent a lot of time with Nana & Grandpa at my parents' house on Monday. We spent a couple of hours in the late morning/early afternoon and then again in the late afternoon after Caleb's nap and before his bedtime.

Tuesday we had Caleb's 1 year doctor's appointment at 11:30. He got a glowing report as always! Here are his stats:
Weight: 23 lb, 7 oz (81st percentile)
Height: 31 inches (89th percentile)
The doctor was very happy with his growth and is happy that he is finally eating well. Now we just need to work on trying to get him to walk! I know that 14 or 15 months for walking is completely normal and that's probably where he will end up, but I would like him to at least be trying, which he isn't yet. I think I need to stop putting him in the Johnny jump-up and his walker so much and let him try to do things on his own instead of being supported. We will see!
He got his finger pricked and they put a Band-Aid on and he was very interested in it

After the doctor's appointment we made a quick stop at Trader Joe's for the rest of our Thanksgiving groceries and then went home for lunch and a nap. Caleb took an hour and a half nap in the morning and in the afternoon on Tuesday, which was great! If only he would do that every day! After his nap we went back to visit with Nana & Grandpa until around Caleb's bedtime.
Wednesday I worked all day but Steve only had to work a 1/2 day, so my mom and Nana babysat Caleb in the morning and then Steve picked him up and took care of him in the afternoon. Wednesday night we had supper at my parents with all the relatives that had come down for Thanksgiving. We actually had a relatively small group this year, considering how big our family is. There were only 19 of us, since none of the Copseys were there. If they had been there we would have had about twice that. Anyway, we had a nice supper and then we ducked out early to get Caleb to bed and everyone else played games.
Yesterday was Thanksgiving and it was Caleb's first Thanksgiving even though he is over a year old now. He was born 3 days after Thanksgiving last year since it was so early! So, we had a nice relaxing morning at home. Caleb actually woke up a little after 6:00, which was later than normal, so that was nice. We went over to my parents' house around noon and stayed there the rest of the day. We hung out before dinner and we ate at 2:00. Caleb's nap was right at that time, so I actually got to enjoy my dinner while he was sleeping and then he ate some leftovers after he got up. He actually woke up after we had finished dinner and we were going around the table saying what we were thankful for. We had a wonderful dinner and then just spent the rest of the afternoon visiting. We left around 6:00 to go home and get Caleb ready for bed. I have to say, that does have its pros and cons. Sometimes it stinks to have to miss out on what is going on, but sometimes it is a nice excuse to just get away and relax. They were just starting to play Apples to Apples when we left last night, and I would have very much enjoyed that, but it had been a long day, so it was nice to get home.
