Nice Sabbath Walk, Water Wizz & Still More Beach Fun!

I don't really feel like writing a blog entry today, because we are getting ready to go to Washington D.C. for the weekend for a wedding. However, I don't want to write about 2 weeks next week, so I will just try to keep this short.

Last Sabbath we went on a beautiful walk in Chatham in the afternoon after having a nice lunch at my parents' house. Of course Caleb couldn't be there without going in the water so we did that for awhile before heading back.

It's probably mean, but this picture makes me laugh because he was so helpless and didn't know how to get himself up!

Gorgeous view!

Getting changed and he took off running!

After he got out of the water, he was freezing so we had to bundle him up to go back

On Sunday, I got up early and worked for a few hours because then around 9:30 we left to go to a water park called Water Wizz. Earlier in the summer they had a special buy two tickets, get two free. So, I had four tickets and we decided to take Josie and Rissa as a thank you for babysitting Caleb. It was a really nice day and we got there right when it opened so we had no trouble finding beach chairs for our stuff. Later on it got more crowded, but it wasn't too bad. We had a fun time, but Caleb had to wear a life jacket the whole time and he didn't enjoy that. He kept patting it and saying "All done". He managed to have fun anyway, though. He wasn't able to go down any of the regular waterslides, but there were some smaller slides in the kiddie areas that he enjoyed. We did split up a couple of times so we could go down some of the slides while the other person watched Caleb. I think I went down 2 slides with Rissa and then we went in the lazy river with Caleb. We were there about 4 1/2 hours and we were all tired after that.

I took this picture because Steve was sitting right under a sign that said not to sit!

I was hoping Caleb would take a short nap on the 30 minute drive home, but he never does well when someone is in the backseat with him, so he didn't fall asleep. By the time we got home, it was after 3:00, so I didn't want to put him down in his crib because I didn't want him to take a long nap, so we just kept him up without a nap and put him to bed at 6:30. He wasn't cranky and fell asleep immediately, so it worked out ok.

On Monday I worked because we are leaving for D.C. today and so I wouldn't be able to work. Dede babysat Caleb but the girls were back in school so she was by herself most of the day. They had fun as always!

Tuesday we met a bunch of friends at Joshua's Pond. At this time of year, everyone has gone back to school so it almost feels like we have a private beach. We were there a couple of hours and had a lot of fun!

Tuesday afternoon we did some shopping and picking up some things that I had bought off of people on Facebook.

Wednesday I worked again and my mom had Caleb. They had a fun and busy day. In the morning they went to Lake Wequaquet and in the afternoon they went to the farmer's market in Hyannis and Grammy bought Caleb an apple cider donut that he ate sitting next to a giant bear that he fell in love with.

When we picked Caleb up from my mom's house, we had the privilege of videoing her ice bucket challenge for ALS. Let me tell you, that was a riot! But good for her for doing it!

Yesterday we again went to Joshua's Pond with a few friends. I think our summer days are winding down so we need to get there as much as we can while the nice weather lasts! And I don't think we will make it there at all next week since we won't be back until Tuesday, I have to work Wednesday and Friday and we start our farm play group on Thursday.

Well, I guess that's it for this week. Here are a couple more pictures. Next week will have lots of pictures of our trip to D.C. I am very excited!

First Fat Lip, Clydesdale Horses, and Fun With Friends

I have some pictures from last Thursday when I took Caleb to a playground that we had never been to before. I think I had already taken my pictures off my phone/camera for last week's blog before we went to the playground.

Loving the swing, but not the sun!

Last Friday Dede and the girls babysat Caleb and I never get any pictures from their day, so I have nothing to share. They always have fun, though!

On Sabbath afternoon we decided to skip the church walk because it was really far away an a little bit later in the day than I would have liked, so instead we went to Heritage Plantation with Rad and Jen. We all have memberships there but haven't really gotten our money's worth, so we wanted to go. It was a beautiful afternoon and we had a nice time just walking around and Caleb (and Rad and Steve) had fun playing at Hidden Hollow, a little natural playground that they have there.

On Sunday I worked in the morning and then after Caleb's nap we were supposed to go to a birthday party for Josie at Joshua's Pond. We were excited about that since Caleb loves the water, but we were an hour late to the party (because of the nap) and it was just starting to rain when we got there and they had decided to abandon the Pond and move it to someone's house. So, we went, but of course it wasn't babyproof so we had to really watch Caleb and it just wasn't as fun. So, after we left the birthday party, we went back to Joshua's Pond, because the sun had come out again!

On Monday morning, we met one of our friends at Joshua's Pond for a couple of hours and we had a great time. Caleb and Grace had a lot of fun in the water and I enjoyed just sitting and talking with Grace's mom, Heidi. I really am blessed to have found a nice group of friends from our play group.

On Tuesday we had a big play date at one of our friend's houses, which is only about a mile from our house. I think there were about 8 of us and our kids and it was a gorgeous day and she has a nice backyard with lots of toys, so we were outside most of the time. The kids had a great time and of course, so did the moms! One of the moms announced that she is pregnant again, so she is the first one of us to be having a second child. It is exciting! She is due in February which is when her first was born, so if she has another boy she will be set for clothes. But, I hope she has a girl. We have more boys in our group than girls.

I love this - looks like Caleb is telling them something important

This is right before Caleb tried to climb into the water table and tipped it over on top of himself!

On Tuesday afternoon, Caleb went in his pool and sandbox and then we tried something new that Aunt Caroline and Uncle Corey had gotten Caleb for Christmas. It is a caterpillar sprinkler that you hook up to the hose and the arms wave around and spray water. He really enjoyed it and was upset when we had to turn it off. I guess we should have tried it earlier in the summer.

On Wednesday I worked and Grammy babysat Caleb. It has been awhile since he went to her house since we were in Nova Scotia. They had a fun day. I brought over a plastic pool for my mom to have in her backyard so they did that in the morning and then she took him to Craigville Beach in the afternoon.

My mom was running out the door as we were picking Caleb up, and she quickly said "Don't be mad." I asked her what had happened and she said that after bringing Caleb to the beach, she took his bathing suit off for the car ride but she thought his swim diaper was dry so she left it on and now the car seat was wet. Indeed it was quite wet, but of course we still had to get Caleb home, so he had a wet bum when we got home. Oh well. I guess she has learned to always put a new diaper on to go in the car seat. Caleb also likes to water Grammy's herbs, and he takes his job very seriously. What a good helper!

On Thursday we did a lot of errands in the morning. We had to get groceries and go to CVS for more contacts solution and to Toys R Us and Kohls. I got Caleb a pair of sunglasses on clearance for $0.98 at Toys R Us and I wasn't sure he would like them, but he does! And he looks so cute in them.

Thursday afternoon we met Steve just over the bridge because the Budweiser Clydesdale horses were there for a few days and public viewing was supposed to be from 11-7. Well, we got there at 4:30 and 2 horses were there but the rest were in the trailers and they were taking them away to get ready for a special appearance. So, it was a little disappointing but at least we got to see 2 of them and they were magnificent animals! They are huge and very pretty. Caleb did like seeing the horsies and I guess he doesn't really know the difference that there should have been more there. I was disappointed, though.

Where the horses were is right on the canal, so we did walk over to the water for a few minutes.

Yesterday we worked and Dede and the girls babysat again. When school starts again, I think the girls are going to babysit Caleb by themselves on Friday afternoons instead of them going over to my mom's house. They are much more comfortable at our house and it will be so much better for my mom too. So, hopefully it works out.

About 10 minutes after Dede and the girls left, Caleb was playing the piano and I had left the room to use the bathroom and all of a sudden I heard a thud and then Caleb started crying. Of course he had fallen off the bench and his lip was very bloody and swollen. We put some ice on it right away which he didn't like but he still cried for awhile. After a few minutes, he stopped crying and was fine, though. He ate and drank normally last night, and he still has a pretty fat lip, but seems to be doing fine. I didn't even think twice about leaving the room while he was on the piano bench because he usually wants me to help him get off even though he can do it himself. So, I didn't think he would even try it. I do feel a little guilty for leaving him, but even if I had been in the same room, I might not have been quick enough to stop it from happening, so I can't be too hard on myself. And at least he wasn't hurt real bad.

Then to top things off, this morning on our way to church, we were stopped behind a car at the end of our street waiting to turn onto the main road. The car in front of us started to go and then decided against it, so the guy put the car in reverse to get back out of the road and he backed up right into us. Steve honked the horn but it didn't do any good. There is definitely some damage to the front of our car and the guy was very apologetic, but it just stinks, because it will be inconvenient for us when it has to get fixed. Oh well. At least it wasn't worse. So, we are hoping that things start improving for us because the last 24 hours hasn't gone too well!

I guess that's it for this week. Here are a couple more random pictures.

One of very few selfies I have ever taken

Caleb is very cautious (so far), so he has never wanted to climb up the slide by himself. He always wants me to help him. But now he has finally figured out how to do it and he is quite proud of himself for doing it by himself.

Not the day of the incident, but he does love playing the piano! I am definitely going to have to get him lessons when he is older. He is very musically inclined.
