Martha's Vineyard, 2 More Farms, Etc.

Well, I didn't get around to writing a blog last week. It is probably because lately I have been writing my blogs on Sabbath and last Sabbath we went to Martha's Vineyard for the day. One of the other reasons is I had been spending a lot of time working on my latest photo book, so writing a blog wasn't my highest priority. I am happy that my photo book is done. This is my longest one yet because it includes all of our summer activities, especially camp meeting and Nova Scotia. It is 105 pages and I can't wait to get it in the mail!

Anyway, I don't remember a lot of what happened two weeks ago. I do have some pictures to help me remember luckily!

2 weeks ago in Sabbath School

Caleb loves to sit with Grampy and play the piano

It was a very humid day so we went to Chapin Beach

All geared up for opening day - too bad it was a disappointing game!

That face makes the loss easier to handle!

"Ride Kylie" are two words we hear a lot around our house!

We only needed a couple of things in Trader Joe's, so I let Caleb push the little cart and he loved it! He seemed to be quite proud of himself!

He also enjoyed the stickers from Trader Joe's!

Our farm group went to a beautiful farm right on the water called Long Pasture. It is part of the Audobon Society and it is gorgeous! We will have to come back next summer and swim there!

Caleb flew a kite with Grammy for the first time at Craigville Beach!

I love this tool belt that my mom had laying around for Caleb to use

One last warm day!

So that brings us to last Sabbath. Caroline and Corey were staying on Martha's Vineyard for the weekend in one of the famous gingerbread cottages because a relative of Corey's owns one of the cottages and had told them to come visit sometime. We decided to go over and spend the day with them on Sabbath. We were thinking of bringing our car over because I can bring my car on the ferry for free if there is space but space was filling up fast to bring the car back, so we didn't want to chance it. It turns out that Corey's relatives had a car we could use for the day, so we just walked on the ferry and Caroline and Corey picked us up in the car.

First we went back to the cottage so we could see it and meet the people. It was very cute and it was definitely one of the bigger cottages around. I have always wanted to look inside the cottages so it was fun to get to see one.

Then we left to head out to the far side of the island to see the Gay Head Cliffs and lighthouse. It was so nice to have a car because usually we just take a bus around when we are there, but this is a long ways to go on a bus so we haven't ever gone that far. It was a really nice day and it was beautiful by the cliffs. We found a prime parking spot and walked to the cliffs and the lighthouse and then ate lunch at a picnic table right in front of our car.

He wanted to touch the lighthouse

Then we drove around hoping Caleb would take a nap in the car, but he didn't (surprise, surprise) so we finally gave up and went to a place that had a little beach so we could let Caleb swim. It was a little slimy but he still had fun.

Then they brought us back so we could catch the ferry. We left early enough that we still got home at a decent time to give Caleb a bath and get him into bed. Thankfully he went right to sleep since he hadn't had a nap all day. It was a very fun day!

On the ferry headed home

Sunday wasn't anything special. I worked in the morning and then Rad and Jen came over to watch the Patriots game. For the second Sunday in a row Caleb has taken super short naps. I don't know what is going on when Daddy is in charge! Last Sunday he slept 1 hour and 15 minutes and this week it was only 45 minutes. I can't even remember the last time he slept that short in his crib. He sleeps short in the car or the stroller, but not in the crib! So, needless to say, it was pretty frustrating but at least that meant an early bedtime!

On Monday we went to our play group with Miss Lori. That is a fun class and Caleb seems to enjoy it a lot.

After our class, we did our grocery shopping for the week and then headed home.

On Tuesday we met a couple of our friends at a playground in the morning. It was fun and there were hardly any other kids there, so they could just run around. At one point Caleb scared me half to death because I didn't realize there was a huge dropoff and Caleb started to step off it like it was a stair and I had to grab him to keep him from falling!

On Wednesday I worked but my mom and dad were in Nova Scotia so Rosalie came and watched Caleb. It is a long day for someone that is not used to it, but she did well and thankfully he is a super easy kid to watch so I don't mind leaving him with someone other than my mom. Rosalie told me that he is the best kid she has ever watched, so that makes me feel good!

On Thursday we had another farm group, but first we stopped at Trader Joe's and they had pumpkins which Caleb was interested in, so I let him pick one out.

That's the one he picked so that's the one we got even though I would have picked a different one.

Then we went to our farm group and they had pumpkins there too and it turns out that they let each of the kids pick a tiny pumpkin to bring home with them. So, we ended up going home with 2 pumpkins! Caleb had a lot of fun at the farm and really enjoyed the pumpkins. It was another gorgeous day, so we have been lucky so far!

Of course everyone loves the tractor!

Yesterday I worked and my mom was still gone, so Dede babysat in the morning and the girls in the afternoon (and Jen came for a little while in between). They had a good day but apparently the dogs were not well behaved and the girls and Caleb got locked out of the house and had to take the AC out of one of our windows to get back in. And now that I mention about the dogs, I have to post a picture about what Caleb and I came home to on Thursday after our farm group. I opened the door to the house and this is what I was greeted with.

I have never seen so much trash. It was awful. I was so angry with the dogs that I immediately put them in their crate and didn't let them out for hours! It was so bad to clean up. I put Caleb in his high chair since it was lunchtime anyway, and I spend at least half an hour picking up all the trash and then vacuuming and mopping the floor. They don't usually get into the trash so we don't usually do anything to prevent it from happening. I guess we might have to rethink that.

Well, that's about it. Until next time!
