Mommy's Feeling Better, Haircut, Dentist Visit & More

Well, it appears that I am finally starting to feel better with this pregnancy. For the last week, I have only thrown up first thing in the morning (except for one morning when I did it twice) and I am not as exhausted at night. So, I think the worst is definitely past and I am looking forward to when I don't throw up at all anymore!

So, last Sabbath Caleb had fun in Sabbath School, as always. We have a nice group of kids and teachers.

Caleb loves to color with crayons

On Saturday night, I had to go to a baby shower at the church, so Steve and Caleb were home alone for the evening. I had a nice time at the shower and it was nice to get out!

On Sunday, I worked most of the day as always. Steve and Caleb went out for awhile and got back a little later than Caleb's nap time, so he went down about 45 minutes late. Well, he ended up never going to sleep at all, which was frustrating. I still left him in there for about 1 1/2 hours and he wasn't fussing or crying or anything. Just rolling around and talking to himself. After he got up, we went out grocery shopping and then took a walk with Steve and the dogs before it got too dark. Then because he had no nap, Caleb was in bed and basically asleep at 6:45, so that was good timing for Steve and I to watch the Patriots game!

Doesn't look like that felt too good

Monday was a holiday, so we didn't have Miss Lori's class. Caleb had a dentist appointment instead. He went last summer for the first time and did great. This time he wasn't such a good patient. I mean, he wasn't horrible but he didn't want to have the girl clean his teeth. He started to cry and wanted me to hold him. And he kept saying "Want Caleb's pacifier!" which is not what the dentist wants to hear! Luckily I had already admitted that he still uses a pacifier although I had said that he only uses it at naptime and bedtime, which is true, but that's not what it sounded like when he was crying for it! Overall he did ok and they said his teeth look great and they are very happy that he doesn't drink any juice!

In the waiting room

From the dentist we headed to my parents' office so Caleb could get his hair cut by Wendy. She was supposed to cut it last week but forgot her scissors, so we did it on Monday. I don't know if he was still traumatized by the dentist, but he started to cry at first when Wendy wanted to put the cape on him in the chair and he wanted me to hold him. She finally appeased him by letting him hold the water bottle and then he was fine. I am so glad he got his hair cut! It was so out of control.

Monday afternoon we went over to go for a walk with Jen and Levi because it was a pretty nice day out. We had a nice time and it was nice to get out in the fresh air.

On Tuesday we had a play date at our friend's house which is just a mile from our house. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures, but the 4 kids had a great time playing and the moms had a great time talking. I am so thankful for this group of friends that I have made!

On Wednesday Caleb had a fun day with Grammy. They went to the mall and met Jen and Levi there too. They also had fun at home.

In the car on the way to Grammy's. I turned around and just thought he looked so cute!

Still holding out hope that he might be a lefty - he seems to like to color with his left hand!

Steve and I went out to dinner on Wednesday night before picking Caleb up from my parents' house. We needed to cash in on the babysitting coupon for January and we were very limited in when we could do it because my mom is so busy in the evenings with church meetings, etc. We had a nice time, but I didn't really like doing it on a day when we had already been gone all day to work. Next month we will either do it on a weekend or on a night when I have been home all day with Caleb.

On Thursday we didn't do a whole lot. I had to do some cooking for Sabbath because we are having people to our house. We went out and did a little shopping in the morning and picked up some items for our upcoming trip to Florida! I also started to pack for our trip, since it is only a few days away. I got back on my treadmill for the first time in several weeks, which felt good. For awhile I hadn't gained much weight in this pregnancy, but all of a sudden the scale is jumping up, so I need to get back into exercising and eating better now that I am feeling better.

Thursday night Steve brought home a present for Caleb from someone he works with. I know that I have said that Caleb has a good memory, but he really surprised me. Back at Christmas time, Steve's boss, Rob, had given Caleb a present. So, when Caleb opened this present (from Steve's friend Drew), Caleb said "Thank you Rob!" without any prompting. It just amazed me because we don't talk about the present from Rob and we don't talk about Rob! So, he just pulled it from his memory. So, the present was a Tonka truck and a yellow hard hat. This morning Caleb wanted to wear the hard hat to Grammy's house. When he walked in with it, she asked him what was on his head and he said "A hat." She asked him what kind of hat and he said "A thank you Drew hat". It was so funny and so cute!

There's the Tonka truck, but I didn't get a picture of the hat

Nothing too much exciting happened today, except that Caleb didn't take a nap again. I don't like that that has happened twice in one week. I don't think he is ready to give up his naps, but it still scares me that it might be sooner than I think! Hopefully it is just a phase!

Well, that's about it. Here are a couple more pictures!

He loves this book and practically has it memorized!

Not a great picture, but I thought it was clever that he used the stool from his drums so he could sit at the piano instead of having to stand up.

Big Brother, Newport, & Fun With Friends

Well, it is not a surprise to anyone reading this blog that I am pregnant with Baby #2! That might have something to do with why I haven't been keeping up with my blogs lately. I have been so exhausted! I think I might be turning the corner on the exhaustion but the jury's still out on how long the nausea will last. At least it has been better than it was with Caleb, so I am counting the small blessings. Caleb seems to understand what is going on, but also seems to have a little jealousy. If I ask him if Mommy is going to have a baby, he says "Mommy have Caleb". At least he has 6 months to come to grips with a new baby in the house! And I know he will be a great big brother!

Trying to get a good picture to post on Facebook was easier said than done with a wiggly toddler!

So, back to 2 weeks ago. It was nice to get back into a routine after the hustle and bustle of Christmas. We are back in Miss Lori's class for the winter and Caleb loves it still. And it is nice to see our friends again on a regular basis. We missed them over the holidays. Caleb has also enjoyed playing with some of his new Christmas toys.

Caleb is also very sad that Christmas is over, though. He is still talking about the lights being on at our house when we come home from somewhere and we have to tell him that the lights are all done because Christmas is over. And the other day at Grammy's house, she asked him what he wanted to do that day, and he said "Open presents". Let's just say he is a kid after my own heart who loves Christmas!

Last weekend we took a quick overnight trip to Newport with my parents and Rad and Jen. We had lunch at my parents' house after church and then headed down. We wanted to make sure we were there in time for the start of the Patriots game. Something really cute happened in the car on the way there. Caleb got a new book for Christmas from Grammy that plays Sabbath songs and there is a picture of Jesus on the front with his shepherd's staff. All of a sudden from the backseat, we hear "Jesus has a big candy cane." Steve and I got a real chuckle out of that comment. Just another example of him having Christmas on the brain!

When we got to Newport, there was a mix-up with our room and we couldn't get in right away so we had to watch the first quarter in the resort lobby. It was not a great first quarter, and we were a little discouraged. Luckily the game had a happy ending and the Patriots are headed to the AFC Championship! And thankfully they aren't playing the Broncos!! We had a nice supper during halftime of the game and then after the game ended and Caleb went to bed, my mom brought out some home videos that were fun to watch.

On Sunday, I was still able to get a few hours of work done while we were in Newport, so that was helpful. Steve took Caleb swimming with Grammy and Grampy in the morning and then we took a walk on the Cliff Walk.

After the walk, we came back and Caleb took a nap and we ate lunch. After Caleb's nap, we packed up and headed home, although everyone else was staying that night.

On Monday, we had Miss Lori's class and we did our grocery shopping after that. Monday is also laundry day, so that's what happened in the afternoon.

On Tuesday we hosted a playdate at our house with Caleb's 3 little friends. I was long overdue for hosting because I was supposed to host in December but Caleb came down with a cold so I had to cancel. We had a lot of fun visiting and the kids had a lot of fun playing.

In the afternoon, Jen and Levi came over for a little visit, so that was nice. It will be fun when Caleb and Levi are able to play together!

On Wednesday I worked and Caleb and Grammy never even left the house the whole day. They were going to go out in the afternoon but Caleb napped late and then it started to snow a little bit, so they stayed put. Here is one of their projects in the morning.

I think this picture is from last week, but Grammy got Caleb a new apron for Christmas and he loves it because he love to help Grammy cook.

On Thursday, we checked out a new place (to us) called Gymport. They have gymnastics classes there, but they also have an open play time for toddlers every day from 10:30-1:30. It costs $8 but we bought a 10-visit punch card on Cape Cod Daily Deal (kind of like a local Groupon) for 50% off. So, $4 a visit is much better than $8. Our 3 friends all bought it too, so we all checked in out together on Thursday. It was a lot of fun, especially for the winter months. There is a small room dedicated to toddler activities, but the whole gym is open, so the kids can play with the mats and the gymnastics equipment as well. Caleb really liked the ball pit in the toddler section and he also liked this pit that had foam blocks in it and the kids went down a little slide and landed in it. I always like discovering new things to do, so this will be something fun to do for the rest of the winter until it is warm enough to do things like play outside.

Yesterday I worked again and Caleb and Grammy had a fun morning and Caleb had a fun afternoon with the girls. I don't know what I am going to do once I have a second baby because I don't think I will feel comfortable with the girls taking care of a little one. So, I will have to work on finding another option for that 1/2 a day. I have a few people in mind, so hopefully between all of them, someone will work out or maybe they can rotate! At least I have several months to figure it out because it won't be until the end of September or beginning of October that I will be going back to work.

Well, I guess that's about it. I have realized that I haven't been taking very many pictures lately. I will have to work on that! But, here are a few more from this week!

Christmas Season Recap

Well, it has been 3 weeks since I last wrote so there is a lot to catch up on. Too much to write about, so I will just post pictures of our last few weeks to summarize what we have been up to!

3 weeks ago on Saturday night we went to Gardens Aglow at Heritage Plantation. It was nice, but not really worth what we paid. Caleb did enjoy seeing Santa, riding on the carousel and playing the music in Hidden Hollow.

The next day we had a small birthday party for Rad and David who were turning 30 on the 16th of December. My parents were on vacation so it was just Rad & Jen, David & Yully, and us. We had a nice meal and dessert and then the 3 of us headed over to the Enchanted Village at the Cape Codder hotel in Hyannis.

The Cape Codder has a really great Santa and lots of nice lights out in their courtyard

Crazy hat hair!

The rest of that week was fairly uneventful until Thursday when we went to Edaville Railroad with the Grodacks and Braces. We had a lot of fun riding the train and some of the kiddie rides both inside and outside.

Love this picture!

Caleb absolutely loooved driving this car!

That weekend there was a special Christmas program at church put on by the kids. The Cradle Roll / Kindergarten class sang a little song called "Happy Day" and Caleb sang super loud and the whole church thought it was so funny. He was kind of the star of the song! I was very proud!

On Sunday we went up to Boston to go out to eat at the Cheesecake Factory and to the Boston Pops Christmas concert with several of our family members. It is an annual tradition that Steve and I haven't done in a few years but with Caleb's love of music we thought he would really enjoy going. We had a very nice lunch and then we walked around the Prudential Center for awhile before the concert and luckily Caleb fell asleep in his stroller.

The concert was very nice and Caleb seemed to enjoy it.

Monday and Tuesday were spent getting ready for Christmas and then Christmas Eve I had to work and Steve was home with Caleb. They let us out of work at 2:00, which was nice, so I came home and we got ready to go up to the Braces. We had a nice Christmas Eve, as always, and of course my favorite part of the night was the games (thanks Corey!) although my team lost this year. Unfortunately, our night didn't go too well. Steve had a terrible cough and since Caleb was in the room as us, Caleb ended up waking up because of the coughing and he stayed awake for about 2 hours in the middle of the night because Steve couldn't stop coughing! It was a very long night.

Christmas morning we opened stockings first.

Homemade stepstool made for Caleb by Daddy

I think he likes it!

The annual "power ties"

We got Caleb a drum set and I think that was his favorite gift!

Some of his new tools from his tool set!

We came home from the Braces on Christmas night and unpacked and repacked to go to Vermont for the weekend. We had a nice relaxing time. Saturday night we had the family Christmas party and then on Sunday afternoon we did our little family Christmas after everyone else had gone.

He loves his new Patriots hat

Opening his stocking

Oh wow! That is what he says when he opens a present

New Patriots Mickey and blanket

We came home on Monday and then we had dinner at my parents' house with the Latimers. We finally got to meet Caleb's girlfriend Nadia, and we found out that Caleb had just proposed so she is now his fiancee! We are very excited for them. We had a very nice supper all together before we had to get Caleb home for bed.

Sleeping on the way home

Love these boys!

Not too much happened on Tuesday and then I worked on Wednesday and Caleb went to Grammy's house. She texted me this cute picture of Caleb "making" orange juice for Grampy.

Thursday was New Year's Day so we were off of work. I requested to sleep in that morning because I pretty much haven't slept in since Caleb was born. So, I stayed in bed until 9:15. Steve actually got to sleep in too because Caleb didn't get up until 7:45. Figures...but it's nice that we both got to sleep in.

We had Christmas with Rad and Jen at my parents' house on Thursday afternoon. It was nice but a little anti-climactic since it was a week after Christmas. We had taken all of our Christmas decorations down earlier in the day and I was pretty ready to be done with Christmas. We had a great time together and everyone got a lot of nice gifts.

His very own apron from Grammy

New fireman outfit from Auntie Jen

So cute! Maybe next year's Halloween costume!

After we opened presents, my parents took us all out to Chinese food. We never go to Chinese food anymore because we love Thai food so much. It was good, but not as good as Thai!

Adorable picture of Grampy and his grandsons

Well, that about wraps up our last few weeks. Here are a few more pictures and hopefully I will get back on track with writing more regularly! Happy New Year!
