Last Play Group, Fun Event with Daddy & Trip to the Beach

It's been awhile since I have actually written two weeks in a row, so this should be a shorter entry than normal since I have been writing every two weeks lately.

On Sunday, I worked most of the day and Caleb and Steve had a fun morning at the playground and at home. I did take a short break to go to a yard sale that my mom had found that had both boys' and girls' clothes. I ended up getting quite a few things for $1 each, so it was definitely worth going to. The best thing I found was a pair of Crocs that fit Caleb right now. He loves wearing them! When I was done working, Caleb and I went grocery shopping because Steve was doing a lot of computer work at my parents' office and wasn't around. He did take a short break to come home for supper and to get Caleb to bed, but then he went back to the office until about midnight.

Monday was our last play group for the year. We have had a fun time at the play group, so it is kinda sad that it is over. However, at the same time, I am definitely slowing down with the last few weeks of my pregnancy left, so it is nice to not have to go. We got a bunch of free stuff at our last play group. The preschool teacher had gotten a grant and so was able to buy all sorts of things for the kids, such as magnifying glasses and other science-related items. It was really nice of them to do for us.

One thing we did in the last class that Caleb loved was to play with water and food coloring and use a dropper to mix the colors. A dropper was one of the things included in our free items, so now I just need to buy some food coloring so we can do this at home!

The other teacher, Miss Gaby

On Tuesday we did a little shopping in the morning and then just hung out at home in the afternoon. Nothing terribly exciting.

Wednesday Caleb and Grammy had a busy day and Caleb took another 3 hour nap for my mother. I was happy for her but disappointed that he doesn't do that at home!!

On my way home from work on Wednesday, I stopped and met a woman who was selling some newborn clothes. I had discovered that I didn't have too many newborn items, so I was happy to find a good deal on some things. I think I am probably all set now, so that is good.

Thursday was a busy day. We went to Trader Joe's and the mall in the morning. I wanted to find Father's Day presents and luckily, we were successful. Of course, we couldn't leave the mall without either riding the cars or the carousel and Caleb picked the cars this time.

I was concerned that Caleb wouldn't take a nap on Thursday but I really needed him to, because he was going to go to a special event with Steve on Thursday evening that was sponsored by the school we had our play group at. It was touch and go, but he did finally fall asleep after about an hour in his crib. It is just so frustrating that he has been sleeping so well for my mom and not for me. And since I am always working while he is napping, it is stressful when I am not sure if he is going to nap. I ended up having to wake him up from his nap because I had to go to a doctor's appointment. I dropped Caleb off at Heidi's house so he could play with Grace while I was at my appointment, because they had to do something that required me to be undressed, and I didn't want Caleb to be there for it. Caleb had a great time with Grace and then we headed home so he could get ready to go with Steve.

The event was supposed to be a "camping trip", so they had smores and there were tents set up, "fishing", etc.

This picture cracks me up - they are so cute!

Ricky and Ana were in town so Ricky could pick up the stuff from down here to put in the moving van to take to Nova Scotia. So, I had supper at my parents' house while Steve and Caleb were gone. It was very nice to visit with them! It was too bad they couldn't spend any time with Caleb, though.

Caleb ended up going to bed late on Thursday night because of the "camping trip" so I expected he would take another marathon nap for my mother. However, turns out he woke up not too long into his nap complaining that his ear was hurting. After he got up, he continued to complain, so my mom asked me if she should take him to the doctor and I thought she had better since it was going to be the weekend and I didn't want to end up in the ER if it got worse. Turns out he just had a little fluid in his ears, no infection, and the doctor just said to give him Tylenol for the pain and that it should resolve itself. We did give him some medicine before bed last night and he slept fine and was fine this morning.

Grammy and Grampy got a new mattress, so they were checking it out

Poor kid! Something is definitely not right!

Being in pain definitely warrants the pacifier!

Today was a good day and a not so good day. We had decided to go on a picnic with my parents and Rad after church and we were going to have Caleb skip his nap since he usually does fine when he doesn't nap. It was a gorgeous day, not too warm, and we had a wonderful picnic and then Caleb and Steve played on the beach and even in the water.

I don't have too many pregnancy pictures, so it is good my mom took this. Getting pretty big, but not too bad considering I have less than a month left!

On our way home from the beach, Caleb was talking about how tired he was, so I started to feel bad that we had skipped his nap (even though he skips them on his own sometimes). I figured we would just put him to bed around 6:30 and everything would be fine. Well, when we got home, he started to melt down. Steve gave him a bath since he had been in the salt water and after he got out of the bath, he was very whiny and started crying a lot. We weren't sure if he was just tired or if there was something else going on. Honestly, I am still not sure what is going on with him. He was pretty inconsolable for awhile and even fell asleep a couple of times (once on my lap in the rocking chair and then again in his crib) and then woke up crying. Right now he has been asleep in his crib for about an hour, so I am hoping that he was just beyond exhausted and is now finally asleep for the night. He has not complained about his ear at all, but it makes me wonder if there is something more going on with him. I guess we will see in the morning!

Here are a few more pictures from the week!

Touch A Truck, Martha's Vineyard, and Other Fun!

Boy, it is amazing how quickly 2 weeks goes by! It seems like I just wrote on here and already it is time to write again. That means that the next 4 1/2 weeks until my C-section are going to go by just as fast! I can't believe the baby is coming that quickly!

Two weeks ago we didn't have the greatest weather week. I don't remember a lot of what happened that week. I do know that on Tuesday we went to Gymport with all of our friends, which was a lot of fun. We hadn't been there in while, so it was nice to go back and nice to spend time with our friends.

On Wednesday of that week, my mom was still gone, so Heidi watched Caleb in the morning for me and then Rosalie watched him in the afternoon. Caleb had a lot of fun with Heidi and Grace.

Love these two!

On Wednesday night, my mom finally got home from Europe, so we were happy to have her stop by on Thursday morning to see us after being gone so long. Then I had to go to the OB and I was so annoyed because I had to wait in the waiting room with Caleb for 45 minutes. It was ridiculous and I was practically ready to leave, because these appointments are so pointless anyway. I am glad there aren't too many appointments left!

On Friday, Grammy was finally back on babysitting duty, so that was nice. We definitely missed her! Rissa babysat Caleb in the afternoon and then we went over to my mom's for supper with Rad and Jen. My dad didn't get back until Friday night, so he wasn't there for supper.

Sabbath was a nice day, and we were very happy to see Grampy at church! In the afternoon, we headed to Heritage because the church walk was not stroller friendly. We had a great time as always playing mostly in Hidden Hollow.

On Sunday, I worked, but we also took a couple of hours to go to a Touch a Truck event in Sandwich. It was the first time we had gone and it was great! It cost $5 for Caleb to get in and adults were free, so that was nice. There were all sorts of trucks there that were open for the kids to get in and sit in the driver's seat and honk the horn, etc. Caleb had a lot of fun in all of them. There were also other advertisers there who were geared towards kids. Caleb of course really loved the music studio that had brought musical instruments for kids to play with. Anyway, the event was a great idea and we will definitely be back next year!

On Monday, we had our play group. It was our next to last one, which is kinda sad. It has been a good group. It was a really nice day on Monday, so the teachers made sure we got to play outside this time.

Unfortunately, on Monday Caleb wouldn't take a nap. I was very frustrated, because it has been quite awhile since he had skipped a nap (except for intentionally in Florida). My dad was going to come over and visit us for a little while on Monday evening, and he wasn't able to spend as much time since Caleb had to go to bed early, but we still had a nice visit with him.

So, the good news is that Caleb did sleep about 12 hours on Monday night. We ended up having an impromptu play date at our house on Tuesday. It wasn't a very nice day and we had been talking about going to the playground with Heidi and Grace, but we decided to just hang at our house. Then we invited our other friends over as well and they all came, so we had everyone in the playroom and the kids just absolutely trashed the room, but they had a great time.

I was hoping the playdate would tire Caleb out, but unfortunately he didn't nap again on Tuesday. It is a vicious cycle since he had slept 12 hours at night. So, again he went to bed super early on Tuesday night and slept almost 12 hours.

Then of course, my mom had him on Wednesday and he took a 3 hour nap!! I would be ecstatic for  3 hour nap on my watch, but of course it had to be for my mother! Oh well. At least he napped and didn't make it 3 days in a row without a nap. But, then I was afraid that he wouldn't go to sleep that night, so we had gone to Papa Gino's for supper for all you can eat pizza and pasta, and then we went to the Centerville playground to get out some energy. It was a lot of fun and it must have worked, because he was still asleep around the same time as normal.

On Thursday, we headed off on an adventure with Heidi and Grace. We went to Martha's Vineyard for the day. We were able to park for free at my office and we went in to say hi to my coworkers before getting on the boat. We sat outside on the boat and had a nice ride.

Our first stop was going to be the carousel and we were very disappointed that right now they are only open on the weekends. I think Heidi and I might have been more disappointed for the kids than they actually were, so that's good. We went to a bakery next and got donuts and cookies.

Then we walked over to the area where all the gingerbread cottages are and let the kids run around a little bit. They had fun seeing all the houses and just running around on the grass near the tabernacle.

Then we walked back to the waterfront and were trying to find a way to get down onto the beach but there really wasn't any way to get down there safely (at 34 1/2 weeks pregnant, especially). So, we just walked out on the pier and watched the boats instead.

Grace took a nap on the boat ride back, so they stayed inside and Caleb and I sat outside. When we got back to Woods Hole, Caleb and I went back into my office for another few minutes and then we walked down to the Woods Hole Aquarium. I literally walk by there every day on my lunch break and had never been in there. It is really tiny, but it was cute and the kids enjoyed it.

Then we walked back to the car and headed home, but we kept hitting all sorts of traffic, so we kept trying to take back roads to avoid it and it ended up taking over an hour to get home, but we made it in one piece. It was a fun day, but I was exhausted by the end of it! I think I hung in there pretty well considering my status.

Yesterday my mom had Caleb all day because Rissa was going to camp meeting and again he took a 3 hour nap!! Seriously, I am not sure he has ever napped that long for me, but oh well. My mom had us for supper, so we just went straight there after work and had an early supper. It was nice to all be together again now that my dad is back as well.

Today was a little bit of a different Sabbath. We went to Sabbath School and church, but it was a small group because of camp meeting. We had been invited to a get together that our neighbors were having and we felt like we should go, so we went before Caleb's nap and spent a little time meeting their family, which was nice. We brought Caleb home for a nap and at first, I didn't think he was going to fall asleep, but he did and then I ended up having to wake him up at 4:00 after about 2 1/2 hours, because I wanted to make sure he would sleep tonight! Then we actually went back to the neighbors' house because we hadn't been able to meet their grandson earlier, because he had been napping. We stayed for awhile and had a nice time. It was very nice to be included in their gathering, because it was all family except for us.

Well, that gets us caught up on the last two weeks. Here are some more random pictures.

Getting ready to change his baby's diaper

Steve painted the closet in Kaitlyn's room, so I was finally able to hang up her clothes! We are pretty much ready for her to come!

Steve found this John Deere Gator at the dump and was able to get it running (he only had to buy a new battery). It sells for about $400 new.

Another dump find

He got paint on his face and wasn't too impressed - he does not like to get messy
