Cider & Donuts, Halloween, Caleb Meets Levi, & More

Well, it has been 2 weeks since I have written. I just can't seem to find time during the week to write and so I have been relying on Sabbath to write and last Sabbath we were in Vermont, so I didn't get a chance to do it. Oh well.

So, 2 Sabbaths ago Jen and Levi were still in the hospital and Rad went home to get a few things and he got his bar results in the mail and of course he passed! He came over after we were all home from church to share the good news! We are so proud of him but there was never any doubt as to whether he would pass or not!

Saturday night we had a fall church social, with some Minute to Win It games. It was a good time and now that I am not nursing Caleb anymore, Steve took Caleb home to go to bed and I got to stay and enjoy the party. It was the other way around for so long that I need to take advantage of these opportunities while I can!

On Sunday, I did work most of the day as is normal, but I did take some time out of my day to go to the hospital and visit my nephew! They are keeping him in the hospital for an extra day or two because he had jaundice and was having trouble eating.

I had to document Rad changing a diaper!

He is so precious!

On Monday Jen and Levi came home from the hospital and Caleb finally got to meet Levi! He was very excited to get to hold him, but Levi was hungry and so he was crying pretty much the whole time.

See the big grin on Caleb's face!

Playing with Gina's phone

On Tuesday we had a play date at our house. We were supposed to have 3 friends come over but one of the moms and one of the kids was sick (2 different families), so we only ended up with one friend, but that was ok. We still had a good time.

Looking out the window, waiting for Grace to come!

The rest of the day was just spent having fun and we also went back to Rad and Jen's house for a little bit and I brought supper to them.

On Wednesday, I worked and Caleb and Grammy had fun, but of course it is too long ago to remember what they did! Wednesday evening I went out to dinner with 3 mom friends and Steve watched Caleb and put him to bed, so that was nice! We need to do that more often!

On Thursday, I don't really remember what we did in the morning, although I do know we went to Babies R Us to get some more forks for Caleb. I know, exciting, right?

I gave in and paid $0.50 for Caleb to ride the car because we have never done it before

On Thursday afternoon we went to a senior center in Harwich because they were doing trick or treating. Since Halloween was on Friday and I would be working, I knew Caleb wouldn't get much of a chance to trick or treat (not that I am really into that, but it is fun to dress him in a costume). I had a penguin costume for him that I had gotten for $3 at a consignment sale, and it fit him pretty good but was a little snug so the head didn't come down as far as I would have liked. Oh well. He had fun and caught on very quickly as to what to do! And of course the old people loved all the little kids!

Checking out the goods! We did let him have one piece.

On Friday, I worked and then as soon as Steve and I got home, we got Caleb dressed in his costume and we took him around the neighborhood trick or treating before sundown. We hit about 10-12 houses and Caleb had fun.

His shirt for the day

Sabbath morning we headed up to Vermont for the annual cider and donuts event at Steve's parents' house. We got to see Shannon and Sean and the kids at church but they didn't come to cider and donuts because Shannon was headed to Freeport for a retirement party. But at least we got to see them for a little while.

He actually fits better in a bumbo now than he did at 6 months old (his legs were too fat)

Griffin showed a lot of self-control and didn't knock over the tower until we told him he could

After church we headed home and got Caleb down for a nap, and then we had a nice lunch. In the afternoon, Caleb got to play with Aunt Caroline and Uncle Corey and then Alison and Heath and Tyson and Westin came, so that was fun.

The cider and donut party was fun and it didn't seem as crowded this year, which was nice. Sometimes it seems like you can't move in either the house or the garage, but this year both were not very crowded. Caleb enjoyed the cider and the donuts, although we didn't get him much! I know Alison will read this eventually, so I will just point out that Caleb had 2 donut holes and Westin had 2 whole donuts! However, Caleb doesn't really care about food and Westin is a junk food addict! Course, if you were to look at the boys, you would think the opposite since Caleb is a giant and Westin is a little peanut!

"We're not doing anything!"

On Sunday, I had brought my computer and so I worked for about 4 hours while we were there. Not as much as I usually work, but considering the circumstances, I was happy with that. We left around 12:30 to head home but stopped at a rehab facility on the way to see Steve's "grandmother" who had just had knee surgery and is still recovering before being allowed to go home.

Caleb loves playing with Uncle Corey

There is a spider up there and if you clap it will come down. Caleb was obsessed with it!

We stopped to see Rad and Jen on the way home because Steve hadn't seen them since they were still in the hospital.

When we got home, it was a little after 5:00, and there had been a bad storm and we got home to no power. I was very upset because I didn't know how long it would be off and Caleb needed supper and a bath and to get to bed early and to make matters worse, the Patriots game was supposed to be recording but of course it wasn't with the power off! We were going to go to my parents and I was in the car headed out of the garage and the lights came back on! Thank goodness! So we were able to still have supper and get Caleb in bed on time, although I did miss most of the first half of the game. Oh well. At least they were winning and I did get to see the second half.

On Monday we had Miss Lori's class and then we went to Trader Joe's on our way home. They Dania came over and dropped off an early birthday present for Caleb, which was so nice of her. Monday afternoon I don't remember what we did, although I know I did laundry and some cooking.

On Tuesday, we had a play date in the morning with 3 of our friends. We had a really fun time, and I am very grateful for new friends that I have made!

Tuesday afternoon after Caleb's nap we went to the playground and then to the Centerville Library bookstore. I wanted to buy some cheap books for Caleb because I have heard about this thing that I am going to try in the month of December. You wrap up 24 books and you have your kid open one book a day leading up to Christmas! I think it sounds like a lot of fun, so I am going to do it but I needed to get cheap books. The library bookstore has all kids books for $0.50, so that wasn't too bad. I think I ended up with about 18 books and I had a few at home already that I was saving, so I think that I am all set! They are not all Christmas books, but I did find a few to sprinkle in the mix.

This was actually a pretty big slide and Caleb's smile left his face about halfway down. We won't be doing that one again for awhile (at least not solo)

Tuesday night I had made supper for Rad and Jen, but I thought it would be nice if we could eat with them, so I brought supper for all of us and we had a nice visit. I held Levi all during supper so Jen could eat in peace and he is so cute!

On Wednesday, I worked and Caleb and Grammy did some fun things. They went to the playground (the same one I had just taken Caleb to).

I guess my mom had asked Caleb if he wanted to go to the mall or the beach. He said the mall. Then she added the playground in and I think he still said the mall, but they ended up going to the playground. When she was telling me this, Caleb said "Mall. Ride the horsies." And all of a sudden my mother realized why he had wanted to go to the mall. She has taken him on the carousel there and he obviously remembered that the mall is where you ride the horsies! Smart kid!

On Thursday, we went to Christmas Tree Shop and Trader Joe's. Christmas Tree Shop had 20% off coupons this week so we went and took advantage of that. I had Caleb try on some seasonal hats, but of course we didn't buy any.

On Friday Caleb finally got his hair cut in the morning. He was supposed to get it cut on Wednesday but my mom forgot to tell her employee Wendy to bring her supplies, so we had to wait until Friday. It had gotten out of control and so now it looks great!

Finished product!

I want to share a couple of stories that have happened. The first one is that Caleb has been starting to mix up "thank you" and "you're welcome". He used to thank me for his food, so he would say "Thank you Mommy, banana", etc. He would also say "Thank you Mommy, diaper" when I would change his diaper. And it was really cute. Well, now he is saying "you're welcome" instead (although I think he has done better lately with getting it right) and so one morning I was changing his diaper and he said "You're welcome Mommy, poo poo" and I just died laughing. Another funny thing that just happened on Thursday. I had been singing "Only a Boy Named David" to Caleb and he kept wanting me to sing it over and over again. While we were in Christmas Tree Shop he said "Sing about David!" And I told him that we weren't going to sing about David right now. So then he said "Sing about Yully!" And I really cracked up at that one too.

Another thing is that Caleb counts to 10 now without any help. It is funny because if you ask him how many things there are on his tray, etc., he will count up to 10 no matter how many there are. Last week he would only count up to 5 but now it is 10 all the time. And after he says 10, he always says "Woohoo!" and that is because I would say that to him because he did a good job counting. But now the "Woohoo!" is an automatic part of the counting. He will be shocked to find out that 11 actually comes after 10 instead!

I feel like there was another funny story I was supposed to write about, but I can't remember now. If I remember, I will put it in next time. I am not sure when I will write again because we are leaving for Florida one week from today!! If I have a chance, I might try to write on Friday night so I am not so far behind when I get back, but we'll see. I haven't really told Caleb that we are going to Florida because he doesn't understand the concept of time and he would think we are going now. But, I have been getting him geared up by trying to get him to learn the Disney character names. Of course he knows Mickey Mouse, but now he knows Minnie, Donald Duck, Pluto, and Goofy! So, he should be all set when he sees them at Disney World! I can't wait to take him there! We will have so much fun!

Here are a few more pictures!
