Fall Fun!

Well, my good intentions have not panned out and here it has been over a month since I have written. It doesn't seem like that long, but it has been. There is too much that went on to try to remember details (which is the unfortunate part of waiting so long to write), so it will mostly be pictures. Maybe someday I will eventually be able to stay caught up so I can try to write down more detailed descriptions of what has been going on.

Back in September, our play groups started back up again. This is Miss Lori's class, which is at a gym. It is a lot of fun to run around and she is great with getting the kids involved in group activities.

Uncle Rad loves his niece

The 3rd weekend in September was the church camping trip to Nickerson State Park. We decided to just go for the day on Sabbath because it was too complicated otherwise. It was a very warm day. In the afternoon I was able to take Kaitlyn on a very long walk with some of the church group in the Ergo. Caleb and Steve went canoeing while we were gone.

Towards the end of September, Caleb came down with a very bad cough. One night he was up practically all night coughing and then the next 2 days we spent on the couch watching TV (which is not like us at all).

One of my favorite pictures so far of the 2 of them - it is a lot more fun now that Kaitlyn smiles all the time.

Love those cheeks!

Caleb was so excited for Steve to buy this bike seat so they could go bike riding together. Ever since then, he has been asking all the time to go ride bikes.

This is at our Friday play group. He is not afraid to wear a skirt!

Caleb and his BFF Grace. Love them!

All dressed up for church

My 2 favorite boys!

Caleb randomly decided that he wanted to sing in church and as luck would have it, it was the 13th Sabbath and the kids' Sabbath School classes were supposed to sing up front. Caleb ended up singing 2 songs by himself (Jesus Loves the Little Children and The B-I-B-L-E) and then he wouldn't give up the microphone and sang along with the primary/junior classes. Of course, he was the star of the show.

We had our first visit back to Gymport for the fall with some of our friends. I had a proud parent moment when Caleb (and his friends) were able to go through this inflatable obstacle course without any help. They were not able to do that back in the spring, so he is growing up!

Random selfie

I started back to work the last week of September and my mom is bravely watching both of them despite just having had foot surgery. We are so grateful for everything she does for us and I am so glad that I can be at work and know that they are in great hands and that I don't have to worry!

Success at Grammy's house!

Caleb is looking so grown up to me in this picture! I love these 2 faces!

Enjoying the lesson at Sabbath School

Kaitlyn isn't so into the lesson

His hair was out of control so Steve decided to try to cut it himself

Kaitlyn's 3 month pictures and the finished product of the hair cut - good job Daddy!

So sweet

Happy girl! She is very smiley and happy almost all of the time.

Grampy sure loves this girl!

Kaitlyn is not a fan of the flash

What a happy boy!

We made a random trip to Joshua's Pond with Heidi and Grace on a warm-ish fall day. It was very sunny but a little cool. That didn't stop Caleb and Grace from going in the water. It was a beautiful day and Kaitlyn slept the whole time (almost 2 hours) in the baby Bjorn, which was nice.

One night we decided to go to Papa Gino's for the all you can eat pizza and pasta. That's about our extent of going out to eat these days.

2 Fridays ago our Friday play group joined with another play group and went apple picking at a local farm. They also had a section with corn, so we stopped and picked some corn on the way to the apples. It was another beautiful fall day and we had a great time picking apples. As part of our field trip, each kid got to take home a small bag of apples for free.

He seemed to really enjoy the raw corn

This is how she rolls. I am not complaining - she does great in the Bjorn and I can take her pretty much anywhere.

We made apple crisp with some of our apples that we picked!

Such a sweet smile!

We headed up to North Conway for Columbus Day weekend so we could meet baby Hudson and go to the Fryeburg Fair. It was so fun for Caleb to play with all his cousins and I was happy to get to hang out with my cousins too!

Alison and Heath if they had 3 kids

We tried to get some nice pictures for a potential Christmas card picture - we'll see if they make the cut or not.

We celebrated Mia and Bode's birthdays and Caleb was very happy to get to have cake.

It was a chilly day for the fair. This is our first time using the double Bob for the kids. Kaitlyn was fine since she was all bundled up.

Sunday was Steve's birthday.

Enjoying a jumbo donut!

He only went on 1 ride because it cost $4 each and we were cheap, but he sure did love it!

It looks like he is smirking, but he is definitely asleep on the way home from the fair.

Mark and Pam were on the Cape so they came to have dinner with our family on Monday, October 12. Here is Caleb doing an alphabet puzzle with Mark, who was very impressed that Caleb knows all his letters.

Grammy hard at work!

Mini photo shoot with our Trader Joe's pumpkins

She had a little scab on her face so he was actually trying to pick at it. Clearly she doesn't mind!

Such a cute picture of Josie with the kids. She and Rissa both come over after school on Tuesday and Thursday to help my mom with the kids, which is nice.

The 3 cousins!

So, in the last month Kaitlyn has started sleeping 7-9 hour stretches at night. Then she started regressing once she hit 3 months. I wasn't sure if she was having a growth spurt or if it was sleep regression or maybe a combination of both. She still wakes up a couple of times a night but I can put a pacifier in and she will go back to sleep and I don't feed her until after she has slept 7-9 hours again. So, everything will be even better if she stops waking up and needing the pacifier, but at least I don't have to feed her at those times.

As I mentioned above, she is a very smiley, happy baby. She hardly ever cries for no reason, which is very similar to how Caleb was as a baby. She is a much quicker nurser than Caleb (thank goodness) and is usually finished in about 20 minutes during the day. However, right before she goes to bed she nurses for about an hour. She is going to bed usually around 7:00, so that means I usually end up feeding her between 2:00-4:00 and then she goes back to sleep until between 7:00 and 8:00. Her naps are very unpredictable. Sometimes she takes several short naps during the day and then other times she takes a couple of very long naps. So far she has not taken any long naps for my mother although she will at home. I don't know why, but hopefully she will get that figured out soon for my mother's sake.

Caleb is doing so well as a big brother and is not jealous at all. He is a big help to me when we are at home for the most part, although the hardest part is when he makes a lot of noise when I am trying to get Kaitlyn to sleep.

We are certainly not pushing anything but have been working with Caleb on learning his letters. He has known his uppercase letters for quite some time, and is now working on learning the lowercase letters. He does a pretty good job at recognizing most of them, and I am pretty proud and impressed. Right now he is very much into tubas and is always wanting to watch videos of tubas on YouTube.

Work is going well for me. Honestly, I was ready to get out of the house a little bit and get back to work. I really enjoy my job and staying mentally stimulated and socializing with my friends at work. I thought it would be harder to get my 16 hours done at home now that I have two kids and although it is a challenge, I am not having a problem getting my hours in. I sometimes get up early in the morning (or stay up after I feed Kaitlyn) to get some work done and since Kaitlyn is in bed around 7:00, I can work every night without any problem because Steve puts Caleb to bed. And Steve is taking care of the kids for most of the day on Sunday while I try to get about 8 hours of work in. So, it is going well so far and I still feel like I have plenty of time with the kids because I don't work while they are awake. And now that I am at work two days a week, I enjoy my time at home with them more. So, it is a win-win situation all around.

Well, I guess that's it for now. Until next time...
