The Sabbath before Thanksgiving we went up to see my friend Betsy and her family who were visiting her parents in New Hampshire. They live in Seattle and were coming home for Thanksgiving. We hadn't seen each other in 2 years, so I was so happy to be able to see them. She has 3 kids: 2 boys, 5 and 2, and a little girl who is 7 months. It was so, so nice to see her and to have the kids spend time together. I really wish they didn't live so far away because it would be so fun to have our kids grow up together.

On Monday, November 23rd, we had Kaitlyn's 4 month doctor's appointment, even though she was over 4 1/2 months old. Her stats are:
Weight: 14 lb, 6 oz (50th percentile)
Length: 26 1/2 inches (95th percentile)
Wednesday, November 25, was Caleb's 3rd birthday! He was very excited and we had been counting down the days for quite awhile! We gave him a few presents before Steve left for work in the morning and then saved the rest for his birthday party.

It was also the day that we were headed up to North Conway for Thanksgiving. We left around 9:00 in the morning and my mom, Nana, and Grandpa rode with us and then my dad waited for a few hours and Steve rode with him. We stopped in Portsmouth at the Olive Garden for lunch and we got a free dessert for Caleb's birthday.
We got to the Copseys house mid-afternoon and Uncle Terry was the only one there. Caleb said "I can't believe no one is here!" which was pretty funny. We had a cake for his birthday at supper on Wednesday night and he was so excited! It is funny because he is so excited but then doesn't eat a lot of it (which is perfectly fine with me).
I am not creative, but I think it turned out pretty well! A friend gave me a cake pan shaped like a 3 which made it much easier!
Blowing the cups off the table
Wednesday night was pretty much the worst night of sleep we had gotten in a long time (and it wasn't all Kaitlyn). Caleb was sleeping in a sleeping bag on the floor for the first time ever and shortly into the night, he rolled over and bumped his head on the sloped ceiling. That scared him more than hurt him, I think, and then he didn't want to stay down there. We gave him a pacifier even though he doesn't use it at night anymore, but apparently it had a crack in it, so he needed another one, which Steve had to go get from the car. Then he got in bed with us, which did not go well. And then once he got settled down is when Kaitlyn started waking up. I had to put the pacifier in several times and then when I eventually did get her up to feed her, she wouldn't eat. I had been having trouble nursing her during the day for the past couple of weeks, but this is the first time she refused to eat at night and I was so upset. Luckily Shannon had her pump so I was able to get some relief. Anyway, long story short, she eventually did eat, but it was still a struggle. So, we were so happy to have that night over with and luckily, we were already planning on driving home Thursday night, so at least we wouldn't have to do another night like that.
Thanksgiving day was a fun day with family. We ate dinner around 2:00, so we had plenty of time before dinner and after dinner to just hang out. And of course we had a delicious meal, followed by going around the table and saying what we are thankful for.

My frustrations with Kaitlyn continued when she refused to eat more than a couple of minutes right before we left to go home. I was worried that would mean we would have to stop shortly into our trip but thankfully she went to sleep almost immediately and slept the whole way home (3 1/2 hours), so we didn't have to stop and feed her. I was so relieved. We didn't get to bed until about 11 and the rest of her night wasn't super, but at least we made it home.
On Friday, we went and got our Christmas tree in the morning and then met my parents and grandparents and Rand and Jen for lunch for my dad's birthday (which had been a month ago).
After lunch, I took Kaitlyn to get an x-ray on her hip because at her doctor's appointment they noticed that her two hips weren't symmetrical and they wanted to get it checked out. Luckily, everything came back normal. Then we went home and Steve's parents had arrived for the weekend. After supper and getting Kaitlyn to bed, I went to bed at 7:45 to try to catch up on sleep from the last 2 nights. And then Kaitlyn ended up having the worst night ever and was awake every 30-45 minutes starting around 9:45. It was just awful. I don't know what was going on but it had to have been something bothering her.
Sabbath, November 28, was Kaitlyn's dedication day. We were very blessed to have Grandpa around to dedicate her and it was a nice service.
Saturday evening Steve and Caleb put the lights on the tree and then after Caleb went to bed we decorated for his birthday party. Luckily his parents helped us so it went quicker than it could have.
Sunday was Caleb's birthday party. We did it at 11:30 to accommodate everyone's schedules. We opened presents first and then had lunch and cake. Caleb was very excited to open his presents and it makes me very excited about Christmas.
My parents got Caleb some new instruments and he looooved them!

Love this!
Sunday night we had a scare with Kaitlyn. She had her hand in my hair and I pulled it out and she immediately started crying pretty hard. I was in the middle of nursing her and I was able to continue and get her quiet but then as soon as I stopped and picked her up, she started crying a lot again. I also noticed she wasn't moving her arm, so I was so horrified that I had done something to her. I came out of the room crying to Steve and he looked her over and definitely could tell something was wrong. It was about 6:30 at night and she was almost ready for bed, but we called the doctor and she thought we might need to take her to the ER, which we didn't want to do at that time of night. We got her to calm down enough to go to sleep and so we decided to skip the ER. When she woke up in the night to nurse she was crying pretty bad and was definitely in pain and would still not move the arm. I was crying too because it was all my fault! She went back to sleep both times she got up to nurse, so that was at least a good thing. When she woke up for the day around 8:00, she seemed a tiny bit better, although she still didn't want to move her arm very much. We called the doctor again and got a 2:00 appointment, but thankfully, by late morning, she was moving her arm again and seemed completely normal again. I still took her to the doctor and they said it was probably nursemaid elbow and that it had popped back into place on its own. What a relief, but what an emotional day.
Decorating the tree - Caleb loves Christmas as much as I do, which is so fun!

She always has her fingers in her mouth these days and is drooling and spitting a lot - I hope she 's getting a tooth, but I don't think so.
This last weekend we had a lot of fun doing some Christmas events. We took the kids on The Train to Christmas Town out of Hyannis on Saturday night. Caleb was very excited leading up to it and it didn't disappoint. He was excited the whole time and it was so fun to see him like that! Kaitlyn did ok and slept the first half of the trip but was a little squirmy the second half. Other than that, it was great! There were elves that were singing and dancing and they gave us cookies and hot chocolate and Santa came onboard and brought each of the kids a train whistle (which made for a very noisy second half of the trip). I told Steve that I often have these great ideas of things to do with Caleb and he doesn't always love them as much as I hope, but this time he did, so I was very happy.
I had a headache so he was kissing my head
Sunday afternoon we went to my company's Christmas party for kids. They had pizza and then Santa came and brought the kids presents and then they could go swimming in the wave pool.
He was very excited about Santa!

Unfortunately, shortly into the swimming time, someone threw up in the pool and they had to close it for an hour to clean it. There was a heated outdoor pool that they went in instead, which was still pretty good, but not as great as the indoor pool.
Sunday night we went to our church's Night in Bethlehem program. That was a lot of fun too, but I didn't get any pictures.
Whew! We have been busy. I guess we are all caught up now, but the next few weeks will be pretty busy leading up to Christmas. I love this time of year but it is a little stressful trying to get all my work done when there is so much else going on. My motto lately has been to prioritize life over work, so that is helping me be a little less stressed.
Here are a couple more pictures from the weekend.
