New Light Bulb Toy, New Playgroup, and Finally Getting Outside

Last Friday was a normal day. Caleb had a fun day with Grammy. The highlight of their day was a trip to Job Lot, where Caleb enjoyed reading a book in the cart and knocked over a container of dates on the floor.

Other than that, I don't think they did too much. Sabbath was a good day. It started out like it was going to be a nice springlike day, but then it started to rain, so that was short-lived! Caleb was a very good boy in Sabbath School this week (unlike last week when he was all over the place) and sat nicely in his chair pretty much the whole time.

He looks like such a big boy!!

He had a bruise on his cheek from falling into an end table

I brought Caleb home for a nap again when the sermon started because we were supposed to be going to David & Yully's house for Guess Who's Coming to Dinner? I wanted to make sure he got a nap but if we waited until after church was over, we would never make it to lunch. We still didn't really make it, because Caleb ended up sleeping for 2 hours (which is happening more and more lately!). We got there when they were about to have dessert, but there was still food left, so we just had a late lunch. We enjoyed visiting with everyone for a couple of hours and then went home. After Caleb went to bed I worked for awhile, so that wasn't too exciting.

On Sunday morning I went to another consignment sale and this one was 75% off! I had low expectations because of the last one we went to, and although this one didn't have a ton of stuff left, what was left was really cheap and I got a lot of good deals. I left with a trash bag of clothes for $23! Then I worked for a few hours while Steve was taking care of Caleb and then while Caleb was napping. Then Caleb and I went to the mall for a little while before meeting Steve and my parents and Rad and Jen at Olive Garden for my birthday. We had a nice meal (I had a coupon for a free appetizer and a free dessert, so that was good) and then I brought Caleb home to go to bed (sadly, I have no pictures from our meal).

One of the most exciting things that happened this week was that Steve finished making Caleb a new light bulb toy. Caleb has been obsessed with lights for a long time and recently he has become obsessed with the light switches. He will go crazy any time he sees a light switch. So, Steve decided to make Caleb a box with 4 different colored light bulbs that he could turn on and off. He was working on it for a couple of weeks and it is now done and Caleb is thoroughly enjoying it!

Monday we did our traditional grocery shopping and laundry. I cannot remember anything else exciting that happened that day.

Tuesday was my actual birthday. It was a pretty normal day, but it was nice to get a lot of texts, Facebook messages, and a few calls for my birthday. Caleb and I went back to our playgroup that we hadn't had in a few weeks. Since this is just a group that meets at the library, we are kind of outgrowing this group now that Caleb is walking around. All of our other friends in the group are kind of in the same boat. A few of us signed up for a new group on Thursdays that is more of an actual play group, but we are sticking it out with the library group until June when it breaks for the summer. Since this was the beginning of a new session, there were a few new people that had signed up, and there were 3 babies that were there that were 6-8 weeks old. They were so tiny and Caleb looked like a giant compared to them!! Anyway, it was nice to see our friends again. Before playgroup I stopped at Dunkin' Donuts and treated myself to a coffee coolatta and a donut for my birthday. Unfortunately, I still had to work on my birthday, so I did that while Caleb napped. Then I made myself some of my favorites for dinner - shepherd's pie (Mimi's recipe) and creamed cabbage. After Caleb was in bed, my parents and Rad and Jen came over with presents and my mom made key lime pie, which I had requested. It was delicious and I got some nice presents. All in all, it was a good birthday and now I am officially 32!

Drinking some almond milk - he likes it!

Yesterday my mom watched Caleb and actually my dad was home some in the afternoon so Caleb was happy about that! My mom also took Caleb outside for awhile in the afternoon because it was kinda nice out, and now that he is walking, he is quite happy to just be walking around.

Wednesday evening I got Caleb to bed early because I was going on a little adventure. I had bought a pass for $10 to go to a pre-sale for a big consignment sale in Weymouth (almost an hour away). It had been advertised as the best sale in the Boston area with over 20,000 items, so I figured spending $10 to get a jump on everybody else would be worth it. Well, I think the sale was overrated. It definitely didn't have 20,000 items. I don't regret going, because I got some nice things, but I don't think it was worth the drive plus the $10 pass. But, oh well. It was fun to get out and do something. I got a couple of John Deere items that I knew Steve would love for Caleb and a couple of Tom Brady jerseys (in different sizes), so those made it worth it.

Today we went to our new play group. It is from 9:30-11:00. It was too bad, though, because my 2 friends that had signed up couldn't come today. We had a fun time anyway, but next week will be so much more fun when our 2 friends are there. There were fun things to play with and a craft table and a trampoline. There is a playground, but we couldn't use it today because there were men working outside and they were in the way. Caleb was the youngest one in the group today (although his 2 little friends that will be going are both 13 months), but he still just seemed like such a big boy because he was with bigger kids. He is growing up!

Playing with the kitchen - I would love to get one for our new playroom when it is done

We were playing with stamps and he put his whole hand in the ink pad. I love his face here!

Since his hand was dirty anyway, we made a handprint

The hand went up to his mouth, of course

Cleaning up in the sink - such a big boy!

Caleb took a 2 hour nap this afternoon, which was nice, because I had a lot of work to do. After his nap, we went outside for about half an hour in the backyard, which was really nice. Caleb went on the swing and the slide and then also just had fun walking around and picking up sticks and leaves.

We were actually able to take a walk with the dogs when Steve got home tonight, although by then it had cooled off some. Still nicer than it has been, though!

Well, I guess that's it for this week. Here are just a couple more pictures.
