Friday night we went out to eat with my family and David & Yully to celebrate Rad being done with his second year of law school. We had a nice meal and here is a picture of Caleb and Grampy.
On Sabbath, Caleb was officially 6 months old! It is hard to believe that time has gone by so quickly and he is already that old. We had waited until he was 6 months old to start solid food, so Sabbath morning we gave him his first rice cereal! I mixed it with breast milk and made it fairly liquidy, and it went ok. He wasn't crazy about it and was trying to eat the spoon, but he ate almost all of it. Here are a few pictures from the big milestone!
Another cute thing that happened Sabbath morning at home was Caleb was using his walker and walked right into the pantry from the kitchen. I think he was quite proud of himself and I think he was excited to be going into a room he hadn't really been in before.
Steve's parents and Caroline & Corey came down for the weekend, so they met us at church. I left church early to take Caleb for a nap and then we went to my parents' house for lunch with everyone. We had a nice visit and then we came back home for Caleb to take another nap and then we took a nice walk with his family.
Sunday morning we had made plans to meet up with my mom and Dania to go to some yard sales. Traditionally, Memorial Day weekend is a great weekend for yard sales, but this year was freezing! I couldn't believe how cold it was on Sunday morning when we went out. It got better as the morning went on, but it still didn't feel like the first unofficial weekend of summer. Caleb was very well behaved while we were yard saling. He took a couple of naps and I had to feed him during one stop, but he did great being in his car seat so long. I stayed in the car for a lot of the yard sales, but we still got some good things. Steve and I got an air conditioner for our room. We had one last year and it worked ok, but it is old and inefficient. We also got a lot of beach toys for Caleb, which is something I was looking for. Steve's family got a lot of things and I'm surprised they made it home because they were so packed with stuff! Here is a picture of Caleb sleeping during the yard sales and a picture of him and Steve at a Dunkin' Donuts during a pit stop.
The rest of the day we didn't do too much. Monday morning we fed Caleb some rice cereal again and it went about the same as the first time.
Steve's family left late morning and then we went to a softball game with our church on Monday afternoon. I only played one inning because Caleb needed to take a nap. I tried to get him to nap in the bjorn, and he was close, but something kept waking him up. I finally got him to sleep in one of the dugouts.
It was a fun game and Steve played well. His team won, which also happened to have the rest of my family members on that team as well (Rad, David, my dad, and my mom). I enjoyed watching, even though it would have been nice to play more, since I love baseball/softball. Here are a few more pictures of the game and some of Caleb in his Red Sox shirt.
Tuesday was a pretty good day. Because of the holiday, I didn't have to work as many hours from home this week, so I gave myself a day off on Tuesday and worked on a photo book for Caleb. I had made one for the first month of his life and then hadn't done anything since then. So, I spent several hours on Tuesday and made a book of months 2-4, which I felt very good about! I can't wait to get it in the mail. Caleb cooperated and took a 2 hour nap around noon and then a 45 minute nap later in the day.
Wednesday was a work day and Caleb had another good day with Grammy and Grampy. My mom took some great pictures of Caleb and my dad. They clearly have a special bond!
This morning we had Caleb's 6 month doctor's appointment. I was pretty sure he would weigh close to 20 pounds, but I thought he would be below 20 and Steve thought he would be above 20. Well, here are his stats:
Weight: 19 pounds, 12 ounces (85th percentile)
Length: 28 inches (94th percentile)
Head: 18 inches (97th percentile)
So, obviously we have a big boy, but at least he is very proportionate! His appointment went very well. He got his shots and was a trooper and the nurse practitioner was so happy with how well he has grown and with how well he is doing in general. Yay for a healthy boy!! Here are a few pictures from the doctor's office.
Usually he has his crab around his wrist, but I love how it is around his leg this time!
Well, I guess that's about it. Here are a few more random pictures!
I LOVE the pics of Caleb with your Dad - especially the last one!
