17 Months, Dropped Morning Nursing, Animal Sounds & New Toys

Well, Caleb is now officially 17 months old! I didn't really have a plan for when I wanted to be done nursing him. I have just been letting him wean himself. But this week I decided that it was time to drop one more of the nursing sessions so that we were only down to once a day (I had been nursing him first thing in the morning and right before bed). So, I decided to drop the morning nursing and just give him a sippy cup of milk instead. I started that on Monday morning and so far it has gone great! I had been nursing him and then doing breakfast about an hour later, but now I am giving him the sippy of milk and then going right into breakfast. It is always a little bit of a challenge to switch up the schedule, but we are both doing well with it! I figure that I will wait a few more weeks and then drop the nighttime nursing as well, so then we will be completely done. I think I will be sad when I am done, but it will also feel a little freeing as well!

So last Thursday we did some consignment shopping and I bought Caleb a little trampoline, which is one of the things I have been wanting to find for him since he loved his Johnny jump-up so much. The trampoline cost $40.00 at the consignment store, which I thought was a little much, but I had a coupon for $10.00 off, so that made it a little better. It is one that costs about $100.00 new and it was in really good condition, so I splurged. Caleb is enjoying it so far. I have it up against the couch and he also uses it to climb up on the couch as well. So it serves a dual purpose for him.

I also bought a kitchen for him off of someone on Facebook. I probably should have waited until the playroom was actually done, but I saw a kitchen that I really liked that costs $150 at Toys R Us and the person was selling it in good condition for $50 and it came with a bunch of play food as well. So, we bought it and it is now in our kitchen until the playroom is done. Caleb is really enjoying that as well.

This week has been a pretty lousy weather week, so we haven't played outside at all, which is too bad because we had been getting used to the nice weather. Last Friday my mom had Caleb all day without the girls to help, but she didn't have him at all on Wednesday, so it was ok.

At the office for a will signing

On Sabbath we went to Sabbath School and Caleb had a good time as always.

We went to my parents' house for lunch, so I brought Caleb back there for his nap when we left church. Rad and Jen were both sick with a bad cold, so they didn't go to church, but Rad came for lunch. In the afternoon we went for a walk to see a place with a lot of daffodils, even though it was a cool, somewhat rainy day. There was a break in the rain while we were there. I forgot to get the group picture my mom took off of Facebook to put in this blog, but oh well. After the daffodils, we walked a little while on the bike path in Falmouth and then we left to bring Caleb home while everyone else continued walking for awhile.

On Sunday I worked for several hours and Caleb and Steve went out to Home Depot and Harbor Freight and the dump. After I was done working and Caleb was up from his nap, we went and did our grocery shopping. I usually do it on Monday and I think I will go back to that, because the stores were much more crowded on Sunday. I don't really remember what else we did on Sunday, so it must not have been that exciting!

On Monday we did some shopping at Old Navy and Kohls. I had some Old Navy Super Cash that I needed to use and at Kohls I bought some new bath rugs and some new sneakers for myself. I ended up using my Super Cash to buy Caleb a new bathing suit and rash guard for this summer.

Tuesday we went back to our group at the library after last week's break because of school vacation. It was nice to see our friends again after a couple of weeks. I never get any pictures at our Tuesday group because I am always making sure Caleb doesn't run into or fall on top of the other babies. We have definitely outgrown this group but will stick it out for the rest of this session. I don't think we did too much in the afternoon. Probably just played in Caleb's room. I have been trying to teach Caleb animal sounds and so has my mom. He will repeat them but I thought the only one he knew for sure was doggie. But on Tuesday I discovered he knows kitty (he says "A-mow") and sheep (he even does the vibrating sound). It is so cute especially when he does the sheep. So, I am proud of him!

Here are some pictures from Caleb's bath on Tuesday night. He sure does love to be in the bathtub!

GQ tub shoot?

Yesterday I worked and Caleb had a good day with Grammy. He is such a busy boy these days, but Grammy is having a lot of fun with him.

We had Rad and Jen over for supper last night. I know Jen still hasn't been feeling well so I wanted to do something nice and it seems like we never see them anymore. So, we had a nice supper of chicken noodle soup and homemade bread (I have rediscovered my bread maker this week and I am excited about it).

Today was torrentially raining for part of the day. We went to our play group this morning and had a fun time although it was too bad we couldn't go outside.

Well, the weather is supposed to get better tomorrow so hopefully this next week will be a more exciting week and I will have better pictures! Have a great week!
